About Delve Deeper

We're a ~130-person performance media agency built for the subscription-focused nonprofit and mission-driven sector. We run digital fundraising and performance media for organizations like UNICEF, the IRC, and WFP USA, alongside commercial brands. Our clients don't hire us for impressions. They hire us for revenue and return.

We're in the middle of a deliberate shift: from a hero-dependent delivery model to a productized, systematized one. This role is central to that shift.

The Role

We need a technical reporting leader who can also stand in front of a client. Someone who can pull data out of CRMs and media platforms through their APIs, structure it in Google Cloud Platform, build reports on top of it, run the project plan that keeps all of that moving, and then join a client call and answer the hard questions about what the numbers mean.

Today, our Media team speaks to reports and fields most client questions about data. That pulls media strategists away from strategy. This role takes that responsibility over.

You'll become the voice of the Reporting function: the person clients and our own team go to when they have a question about the data, whether it comes from a recurring report or from a one-off request. For us, this is a real change to how we work, and you'll be the one who makes it work.

The role has four core accountabilities. We're hiring for all four. If you're excellent at two of them and uninterested in the others, this isn't the fit.

  1. Technical Reporting: extract, store, and visualize the data.
  2. Client Report Communication: where needed, represent Reporting on client calls and answer client questions about data as they come up (focus on data accuracy).
  3. Project Management: run new report builds and existing-report updates in parallel, on time.
  4. Team Leadership: lead and develop two Analysts.

Core Accountability 1: Technical Reporting

You will own the full data lifecycle—from extraction to GCP modeling and visualization—working hands-on alongside Data Engineers.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Extract: Pull data from ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta, DV360) and CRMs via APIs, scripts, and integration tools.
  • Store & Structure: Model data in GCP (BigQuery), define derived metrics, and lead the migration from Funnel.io to GCP.
  • Visualize: Build Looker dashboards and integrate practical AI (anomaly detection, narrative insights, pacing risk).
  • Quality & Docs: Ensure rigorous QA, data reconciliation, and thorough documentation.

Core Reporting Products

  1. Performance Targets (Plan vs. Actual): End-to-end tracking of media metrics (ROAS, revenue) across cadences, collaborating with strategists to analyze variances and re-forecast.
  2. Universal Media Performance Framework: A standardized, scalable Looker interface for cross-channel performance reporting with AI insights.
  3. Forecasting: Reliable, bottom-up forecasting models for pitches, kickoffs, and QBRs that hold up against actual results.

Core Accountability 2: Client Report Communication

Where appropriate, you'll represent the Reporting function on client calls. You'll speak to the reports, explain what they show, and answer client questions about data as those questions come up, live on the call or promptly afterward.
Our Media team currently carries this, and you'll take it over so they can focus on strategy and optimization.

  • Speak to the evergreen reports: Walk clients through Performance Targets, the Universal Media Performance Framework, and forecasts. Explain variances, trends, and data caveats clearly, and connect them to what the client cares about.
  • Answer data questions: Be the first point of contact for client questions about data, whether they're about something in a recurring report or something outside it.
  • Own ad hoc reporting: When a client question needs a new cut of data or a custom analysis, you scope it, deliver it (directly or through your Analysts), and explain the result. Ad hoc work is the exception, not the default. You'll decide what stays custom and what should become part of the evergreen reports so the same question doesn't have to be answered by hand twice.
  • Partner with Media and Account teams: Keep strategists and account leads informed on what clients are asking and what the data says, so the whole team speaks with one voice.
  • Build trust: When the data is incomplete or a number is wrong, you say so plainly, explain why, and fix it.

Core Accountability 3: Project Management

At any given time, Reporting runs two tracks at once: building reports for new clients and updating and improving reports for existing clients. On top of that sit the recurring refresh cycles for the evergreen products and a steady stream of ad hoc requests. You'll keep all of it moving.

  • Plan and run new-client report builds from kickoff to launch, including data access, source connections, QA, and client sign-off.
  • Run the recurring cadence for existing clients so evergreen reports are refreshed, accurate, and on time.
  • Set up a clear intake and prioritization process for requests from clients, Media, and Account teams.
  • Manage dependencies with Data Engineering, Media, and Client Leadership, and flag risks to timelines early.
  • Keep stakeholders informed on status without needing to be chased.

Core Accountability 4: Team Leadership

You'll lead two Analysts, and their growth is part of how we measure your success.

  • Set the quality bar for the team's work, review it, and hold the standard.
  • Assign work in a way that stretches each Analyst and builds real skills, especially in SQL, GCP, and Looker.
  • Hold regular one-on-ones, give direct and specific feedback, and support each Analyst's career goals.
  • Keep the team engaged: give them ownership, shield them from chaos, and involve them in client-facing work as they grow.
